Measure first

How to measure a dachshund

Long back, deep chest, short legs. Record three numbers once, keep them somewhere handy, and compare them to the size chart on each product page before you order.

1

Chest

Measure the girth at the widest point just behind the front legs, with the tape snug but not tight. This is usually the number a size chart cares about most.

2

Neck

Measure low on the neck where a collar naturally sits, leaving room for two fingers under the tape.

3

Back length

Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Coats and jumpers use this to work out hem length.

Then check the product's own size chart

We don't publish a single shop-wide size chart, because it wouldn't be accurate. Sizing differs between products and suppliers, so the chart shown on the product page is the one to use. If a product's measurements aren't clear to you, ask us before ordering.
